Baphomet is a symbol of balance in various occult and mystical traditions, originating with the Gnostics and Templars, although occasionally purported to be a deity or a demon. This is an abomination to God (see quotes above), which is why it is done.

A fair amount of these people (but not all) are under mind control, and sometimes they “break”, like Britney Spears.
